NOTE DETECTIVE
By Cristi Miller
You can be a musical sleuth by finding notes in any kind of music! Here's how:
  1. Select a piece of music. It can be from your music text book, your Music Express magazine, a piano book, a piece of music from your teacher or a parent, or from a band book.
  2. Follow the instructions below to find and "capture" all of the different kinds of notes in that piece of music.
    • With a pencil, draw a circle around each half note.
    • Place an X on each quarter note.
    • Draw a square around every whole note that you find.
    • Place a checkmark on each eighth note in the piece.
    • Turn in your detective report to your teacher or a parent or friend.
Great work, Private Eye!
